The Youth Voice and Participation Support Worker role is to engage and support individual and groups of young people to participate in sessions and groups to get their voices heard in their schools, communities and peer groups. Supporting the work of Barnsley’s Youth Council and other formal forums to ensure young people can exercise influence over services they receive locally, regionally and nationally.
You will establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with young people aged 11 -19yrs via events and face to face sessions in schools, youth groups and outreach work the community whilst supporting youth consultations across council services and partner organisations.
The post holder should have experience of planning and delivering creative sessions to successfully engage young people.
The post operates on an any 5 from 7 basis and the weekly work pattern varies totalling 18.5hrs per week including regular evening work with young people. This post does require some weekend work away from the Borough and work on the occasional overnight residential experience.
