We are looking for a Sales Assistant to join our busy Chesterfield Venues team.

Duties include selling tickets (in person or by telephone) for events at the Pomegranate Theatre / Winding Wheel / Assembly Rooms / Hasland Village Hall and in the Visitor Information Centre using the computerised box office system.

The job involves working part-time rota shifts to suit requirements of the operation, including evening, weekend and Bank Holidays, as well as covering for sickness and holiday leave.

Shifts will usually be 2-3 hours and are around our event start times which can vary.

At the Pomegranate Theatre shifts currently start 1.5 hours before an event start time and finish 30 minutes after the event start time.

This is the same for the Winding Wheel during the daytime, but evening shifts at the Winding Wheel currently start at 5.45pm and finish 30 minutes after the show start time. Although flexibility is required, it is currently unlikely that a Sales Assistant would be required to work past 8.15pm. However, due to the broad range of events on offer and the introduction of new products, the exact start and finish times may change.

You will have good keyboard and clear concise verbal communication skills along with accurate numeracy skills.

The role requires a flexible approach to working hours, and you must be punctual and reliable and have had experience of working with the public, including cash handling experience.

Working in local government is a highly satisfying and rewarding experience in so many ways. In return for the contribution you’ll make to our local community, you’ll enjoy an excellent range of benefits and the possibility of flexible working options, plus learning and development opportunities which will offer the chance to progress your career further.
