Competency framework

We are looking to recruit 2 HR Business Partners for our reshaped HR and L & D team within the council.

This is a new role and signals a shift in the way we support our managers to drive up employee engagement and performance.

The council is embarking on an exciting transformation journey and a key part of your role will be to support managers to implement change across the organisation.

You will partner with specific business units getting under the skin of the organisation and learning all about our core business and the challenges the council faces.

You will provide a comprehensive, professional and customer focused HR service covering a broad range of generalist and strategic activity. The HR BP will also support the implementation of the workforce strategy having a clear understanding of the council’s strategy and objectives and how the workforce strategy can support the achievement of this.

Supporting the Head of HR you will provide responsive, high quality specialist advice, supporting managers on all aspects of the human resources function including employee relations, HR policy development, recruitment and retention, performance management and absence management, analysis of data and reporting and compensation, benefits, HR Data base and project work.

You will have extensive HR BP experience ideally in a complex, unionised organisation.

You will be tenacious and resilient and be an advocate of the HR profession. You will actively manage your personal development and be passionate about developing others.

You will be comfortable working with colleagues at all levels of the organisation including elected members.
