We are looking for an experienced communications and marketing professional with creative and strategic skills to lead our communications and marketing service. You will be the council’s lead for:
Developing, implementing and evaluating communications strategies and plans
Digital communications including website, intranet, videos and social media
External communications and media relations
Reputation and crisis management communications
Campaigns and events
Marketing, with a focus on income generation
The role involves providing strategic communications advice to senior councillors and managers, managing a team, providing day-to-day co-ordination and acting as the strategic lead across the council for the key areas identified.
It is essential that you have excellent digital communications and media management experience.
You should have experience of managing a communications and/or marketing team and have relevant professional qualifications. Successful applicants should also have experience of planning and delivering successful pro-active external and internal communications work and using digital communications effectively as part of communication and marketing campaigns.
Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and negotiate with people at all levels are essential.
Due to the contact with senior leadership, elected members, press and the public, this is a politically restricted role.
