Role: Import & Export Compliance Specialist


Salary: Up to £40K DOE

Location: Sheffield

Our client are a fast growing, award winning FMCG business.

The role:

Working as part of the wider Finance team and as an extension to the Customer Services team, the International Logistics team also work very closely with the Sales, Buying and Warehouse teams to ensure that we have the correct certification, legalities and transport to get our stock overseas in a timely fashion.

You will gain transport quotes, arrange shipments and produce the necessary documentation to ensure a commercial outcome for the business and the customer, whilst keeping up to date with legislation to ensure that we remain compliant. With a commercial mind, you will work with the Sales team to encourage/maximise opportunities in terms of filling to full container capacity whilst monitoring stock levels and applying fairness and common sense.

On the flip side, you will also work with the Buying teams regarding to the import of goods and collections from international suppliers. The business growth is largely fuelled by a focus on international trade and this is something that has been recognised through award wins so far, so it is a busy and varied role to be in.

You will look for efficiencies assessing each situation on an individual basis, applying fair judgment and a common sense approach. Your analytical skills, numerical abilities and organised approach will mean that you will thrive in a busy workplace, involving yourself with the trading environment around you.

The successful candidate:

You will be a confident communicator, with a polite but tenacious telephone manner and the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and customers. Your organised and considered approach will ensure that you remain calm under pressure whilst enjoying a fast paced and challenging role.

You will have proven experience of working in a customer service or logistics type role. You must be able to operate at pace under pressure, whilst not sacrificing quality and accuracy. You will see the importance of attention to detail, yet awareness for the bigger picture and keen to see how finance works in business, not just as a department in isolation.

You will have a working knowledge and understanding of shipping hazardous goods, and have the underpinning knowledge to check that the correct shipping documentation is in place per product and destination.

The ITOPS qualification is desirable, not essential.
