I.T Technician - Sheffield

Role: I.T Technician

Salary: up to £30K, DOE

Location: Sheffield

Our client is a leading industrial manufacturer.

The role:

Assist in the management of all IT Services, IT related equipment and be the first point of contact for IT Support issues across the group. Procure all hardware and software necessary for all departments. Complete general IT administrative tasks and ensure data is secure, with backups taken regularly. Liaise with group IT personnel to ensure the group IT Systems operate efficiently.

Manage Software technologies including:

Microsoft Office
Microsoft Windows client and Server
Microsoft SQL Server
Microsoft Exchange (Premise & Cloud based)

Support and proactively develop a Company ERP business system including:
(training to be provided, some exposure would be an advantage)

Support of the EFACS ERP business solution.
Experience of MS SQL Server database including maintenance, backup, development, upgrades and SQL scripting.
Developing reports using BIRT, Crystal Reports, MS Excel etc in order to provide users and management with report information from the ERP system.
Identifying business process improvements and solutions through the ERP system.
Successfully manage projects to deliver upgrades and improvements as an individual or as part of a team.
Work with suppliers and external consultants to further develop solutions & systems.
Developing system & user procedures.
Delivering & supporting end user training.
Provide help desk support and problem solving

Data Analysis and Reporting

When necessary provide report writing and data exports as required to facilitate the business needs.
Provide the means to produce customer documentation when requested.
The scheduling of backups of the company data and software systems.

Project Management

Ensure the timely manner of software upgrades and new hardware
Oversee ICT projects to meet new business requirements and changes to documentation and processes.

Qualifications/education required:
Relevant IT qualifications

Experience required:
Previous experience in an IT Support role is essential.

Specialist training:
Appropriate Microsoft qualifications an advantage

Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server essential

Show a balance between formal and informal styles of communication.
Good at handling questions.
Have the ability to explain things in a manner that ensures everyone knows what is expected of them.
Able to effectively communicate required standards.
Must be extremely structured in the handling of information.
Able to effectively cascade down departmental goals and objectives to be achieved.
Must be open and approachable.
Continually review ways to maximise resources.
Can demonstrate an understanding of what can be realistically achieved.
Must be able to demonstrate total control over all documentation and information.
Must have a strong knowledge of IT and IT infrastructure within the organisation.
Ability to make objective and reasonable decisions under pressure in various situations.
Ability to implement alternative solutions after due consideration.
Eager to take on more responsibility.
