Our client is an award winning specialist in their field and offer a bespoke service to their customers.
In the role of Helpdesk Engineer you will provide IT support to clients. You will be assigned support tickets by the Technical Coordinator and take ownership of issues to resolution or escalation. You will manage technical requests, prioritising and dealing with them effectively. You will fix issues swiftly whilst causing minimum disruption to clients, working to targets and meeting service level agreements.
The successful candidate:
You will have some technical experience and be able to comfortably and quickly diagnose and fix the majority of desktop issues and have some familiarity with more advanced desktop skills such as troubleshooting start-up problems, investigating problems with Microsoft Office and other common client applications.
Basic server administration experience, such as setting NTFS file permissions and administration of Active Directory would also be advantageous, as will an understanding of the basic principles of virtualisation.
You will have some knowledge of networking in terms of different types of internet connectivity as well as setting up a firewall/router (including port-forwarding), and previous experience of administration of Office 365 would also be useful.
You should demonstrate enthusiasm for technology, be aware of developments in the industry and have a real passion for IT.
Our client is looking for someone who works hard, communicates well and is keen to learn. You will be eager to develop your existing technical support skills and learn new ones and be enthusiastic about excellent customer service.
You must be confident communicating with clients by phone and email.
Experience in the following desirable:
• Networking (hardware and software) on Windows Server 2000-current, and SBS 2003-current
• Windows Client Operating Systems (XP to 10)
• Mac OS X
• Office 2003-current
• Exchange 2003-current
• Internet and email (including VPNs, DNS, IP, routers and firewalls)
• Active Directory configuration and administration
• Wireless Networking
• Backup Software
Any qualifications such as MCP/MCTS/MCITP or Comptia A+ are also desirable, but not essential.
Finally, you should also be able to demonstrate strong understanding company values, be a team player, good at managing your own time and able to follow the processes and procedures that ensure you do a good job every time.
