At Irwin Mitchell LLP we have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Manager with demonstrable experience in IT to join a newly established Procurement Team in one of the UK’s largest law firms. The role will be responsible for supporting the Head of Procurement in delivering the Group Procurement Strategy with a particular category focus on the strategic sourcing of technologies and services in IT, during an exciting time of significant transformational change. Travel throughout the UK is expected within this role.

Working as Procurement Manager, you will work to deliver a number of high profile, complex, IT focussed procurement activities. Drawing upon your previous experience of strategic IT sourcing and contract management, you will utilise your knowledge to deliver a transformational change agenda.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain relationships at all levels, working closely with various stakeholders across the business. You will be required to provide technical procurement advice to senior managers as well as working with the central legal team to mitigate contractual risks. Additionally, you will be comfortable influencing at senior level; working collaboratively with Head of Vendor IT Management and the IT leadership to drive maximum value for money from suppliers.
With knowledge of procurement principles, models, and tools coupled with a strong commercial awareness, you will work to drive commercial value for Irwin Mitchell in a manner that is consistent with the Firm’s values, principles and policies. You will further utilise this knowledge to implement procurement policy and processes in line with best practice; leading on high value, high-risk, strategic contracts including supplier engagement, tendering, negotiation, commercial discussions and cost modelling.
To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate the confidence to act as deputy Head of Procurement in their absence, all the while working continually to raise the profile of the Procurement function internally and embedding best practice across the Irwin Mitchell Group. You will possess a high standard of education and a sound understanding of contract law.
