Sue Ross Recruitment are working with a successful and established business based in Sheffield. They are a progressive Company with an exciting vision to develop the business and they are looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join the busy Operations team.

The purpose of the role is to develop and implement effective stock management and procurement processes and procedures to ensure purchasing and key account requirements are consistently exceeded. Flexibility to support the various roles within the Operations department is also key requirement for this role, so a willingness to learn as well as an ability to be accurate and work to deadlines is essential.

Duties:
• Analyse and predict stock usage to maintain efficient stock levels at best value prices
• Negotiate supplier arrangements to ensure orders are placed efficiently, timely and accurately at best value prices whilst maintaining quality
• Liaise with suppliers to manage delivery logistics for stock or customers to ensure service levels are maintained
• Implement protocols and procedures with suppliers to ensure prices and price lists are current and updated on Sage and Intranet databases
• Ensure correct procedures are adhered to for opening new supplier accounts and updating and maintaining the existing supplier database
• Preparation of contract review documentation in line with scheduled meeting dates
• Provide cover and support to all other Operations roles with the team


Required Experience:
• Recent experience in a purchasing role
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP’s and Pivot tables)
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Word and Outlook
• GSCE grade C or above in English and Maths – or equivalent
• Close attention to detail and highly accurate levels of work
• Flexible approach to work and willingness to learn
• Personable with good communication skills
• Able to work autonomously and to deadlines
• Team worker with the ability to work as part of a small team
