Sue Ross Recruitment are working with a well-known local organisation. They are looking to recruit an experienced HR Advisor to work within their central Sheffield office for a period of at least 3 months. This is a HR Generalist role but a large part of your duties will be to assist with and take responsibility for absence management issues.

They are looking to recruit an experienced HR Advisor to work within their central Sheffield office for a period of at least 3 months. This is a HR Generalist role but a large part of your duties will be to assist with and take responsibility for absence management issues.


Responsibilities and duties will include:

• Delivering a professional HR service to users
• Dealing with generalist casework
• Dealing mainly with sickness and absence management cases
• Providing generalist HR support and advice
• Conducting sickness and absence reporting
• Monitoring performance
• Operating a Triage Advisory service
• Acting as a first point of contact for relevant advisory issues
• Making key operational decisions
• Displaying dedication to the continuous improvement of processes and services
• Escalating matters as required
• Building and maintaining key relationships
• Maintaining a strong understanding of the organisation’s objectives
• Conducting research as necessary
• Contributing to the development of policies
• Identifying and acting on business requirements
• Performing risk assessment
• Assisting with training as necessary
• Directing requests to the appropriate channels
• Writing reports
• Using and manipulating data, extracting and analysing relevant information
• Embodying best practice at all times

For this role it is essential that you are customer-focussed and possess excellent interpersonal and technical skills. You should have a strong knowledge of current Employment and Equalities law and be able to utilise your initiative at all times. Ideally you will have or be working towards your CIPD qualification or similar and be up to date with all current employment legislation.
