Sue Ross Recruitment have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and innovative Procurement & Supply Chain Manager to join a local authority for a period of around 4 months. This opportunity has arisen due to an increased workload and, as such, the successful candidate must be able to hit the ground running.

This opportunity has arisen due to an increased workload and, as such, the successful candidate must be able to hit the ground running.


Working with major strategic contract and procurements, you will be handling both transactional and strategic aspects of the role. Experience in a similar role, as well as a solid understanding of contracts is essential.

Key duties will include:

• Performing effective procurement and management of contracts
• Taking the lead on arrangements within a specific agreed category
• Providing procurement advice with the goal of achieving best value for money
• Assisting the Senior Procurement and Supply Chain Manager as required
• Developing and implementing a spend strategy
• Proactively being dedicated to the continuous improvement of processes, costs and quality
• Embodying and implementing best practice
• Maximising benefits
• Managing risks appropriately
• Setting and monitoring KPIs
• Staying up to date with the external market
• Management of stakeholders
• Leading cross functional teams to identify and challenge category requirements and develop improved strategies
• Monitoring and evaluating spend, identifying opportunities for improvement
• Performing dispute resolution and exit planning as required
• Managing key contractual events such as periodic price reviews
• Monitoring category performance
• Providing statistical information, generating and presenting reports as required
• Building and maintaining strong working relationships with category suppliers
• Ensuring compliance with both internal and external regulations
• Adhering to the organisation’s procedures and strategies

The ideal candidate must possess excellent commercial acumen and have a proven track record of achievement in a similar role. You should have sound market knowledge, first rate communication and interpersonal skills and experience of successful negotiations. This role will require you to constantly prioritise effectively, meet objectives and targets and lead and motivate those around you.
